This extensive elderly village housing scheme was completed for Touchstone Housing Association and involved three residential blocks linked by a central “Village” complex incorporating shops, hairdressers, medical and community facilities. The project was won in a design and build competition with Mowlem Building. Ground conditions were extremely varied on this former opencast site and over a relatively short distance required pad foundations, long span ground beams over buried “high walls” piling and grouting of shallow mine workings.
