Tesco, Leicester

Client: Redbourn Group Ltd
Services Provided: Civil & Structural, Highways

A new timber framed Tesco Store constructed on this prominent site near Leicester City Centre. The site had many challenges including demolition works, diversion of a large brick egg sewer, intrusive archaeological survey within the building footprint and highway and junction works to one of the main arterial roads into Leicester. In addition, the site was entirely within a flood plain and required careful consideration of the cut and fill to ensure the building floor level remained above the flood waters. A complex SUDS drainage system utilising porous paving was employed to satisfy the Environment Agency.

Highway Works:

MJMC Highways were appointed by Fairgate Investments as Highway Engineers on this S278 highway improvement scheme.

The works included the signalisation of Narborough Road North which is a main access/egress to Leicester city centre and highway widening works to New Park Street. Also included was provision of a new three arm roundabout to access a new Tesco store. The works were completed in mid 2012.
