Approximately 1400 student beds in a series of tower blocks up to 14 storeys. Extensive feasibility studies carried out into alternative forms of construction prior to detailed design to tender stage. The developer eventually opted to sell on the site for McLeans to build out. Towers in structural steel with composite metal deck floors. Piled foundations into sandstone with grouting required and deeper piles due to historic underground water storage chambers excavated out of the natural rock.
